Beauty abounds everywhere
I have found
And sight alone is not its audience
There is abundance of it
Enough to sate, serenade, soak and soothe the whole senses
Hear it…
In the sound of carefree gleeful laughter
Tossed up into the sky
In gentle giggles whispered into the wind
In the delighted squeal of a tickled child
In the ripple of pouring water
Taste it…
In the gripping relief of ice-cold gari ijebu and coconut/groundnut
At the peak of a hot Lagos afternoon
In the mercurial sensation of eating salt-and-sugar popcorn
In the mouth-watering smack of sour stuff
In the surprising gooey core of hard chocolate
Smell it…
In the tastebud-swarming smell of freshly-cut grasses
In the earthy mix of cologne draped in manly musk
In the crisp clear odorlessness of untainted morning breeze
Feel it…
In the sultry seduction of silk
In the comforting cuddle of cotton
In the ticklish tease of beards against smooth skin
In the sensation of moist warm lips against flaming skin
In the prickly brush grass points against naked running limbs
See it…
In the beautiful balance in the contrast of dark against light
In the bareness of a leafless tree against the skyline
In the blood-orange of an evening sunset
In the crooked tilt of an imperfect smile
In the refreshing difference of the unconventional
Oh who ever said beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
Beauty is everywhere
The beholder only chooses what beauty he sees
P.S. I’d really like to read what beauty is to your senses…what tingles your senses…what make you go WOW! Express in the comment box.
Cheers!
